Huhana Whautere

Huhana Whautere is a Māori occupational therapist with whakapapa connections to Ngāpuhi iwi. Currently, Huhana works as an Occupational Therapist with REFOCUS on the Sunshine Coast, supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families within the child safety sector. Her practice is grounded in relationship-building, cultural humility, and strengths-based approaches that honour the unique identities, experiences, and aspirations of Indigenous children, families, and communities. She is passionate about advancing equitable outcomes for Indigenous peoples. She is committed to promoting culturally safe occupational therapy practices that uphold self-determination, support wellbeing, and contribute to meaningful systemic change.
